Data – Digital Elevation Photos

A Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is a 2D image file, where each cell in the image has an elevation assigned to it. When brought into a Geographic Information System (GIS) software package such as QGIS, Global Mapper, or ArcGIS the user can perform a variety of numerical and visual analysis.

Mapping: Elevation, Surface, Terrain

In England, the Environment Agency provide DEMs at 1m resolution for most of the country. Our DEMs can be produced at 5cm resolution, allowing more accurate mapping in site master planning, planning earthwork movements, hydraulic modelling and more.

Digital Surface Model (DSM):
The earths surface, including any objects such as trees or buildings.
Digital Terrain Model (DTM):
The earths bare terrain, with all trees and objects removed.

Digital Elevation Model Outputs

We acquire, process and deliver accurate, high resolution DEMs for use in AutoCAD and GIS software packages. As part of the same drone survey, we can also provide the following outputs:

  • Point cloud .LAS or similar
  • Georeferenced Aerial Photos
  • Orthomosaic imagery (GeoTIFF) or similar
  • 3D Models and Meshes (OBJ)
